"When I was asked to write a philosophy stating why I do what I do, my first thought was… I love doing it! This job goes beyond 8 to 5, and it is an honor to build a team that has the desire to serve this incredible generation of individuals. Day to day, minute by minute, I am involved with the privilege of adding to the quality of life for the people I choose to serve."


In 1978, Sandy Warner began her professional career in the health care field, specializing in serving the needs of the senior population. Initially involved in the sub-acute, skilled arena, she then moved to her present vocation in the assisted living industry. Beginning in 1995, she spent six years as executive director at two other senior care facilities in Ohio, and also served as a consultant to the health care industry throughout Ohio and numerous other states in areas of management, finance, and marketing.

In 2005, Sandy joined KentRidge at Golden Pond in Kent as part of the team responsible for the development and opening of the facility. Under her leadership, KentRidge earned six deficiency-free surveys from the Ohio Department of Health, with no violations of any regulation in regards to every department in the residence. For her outstanding performance, Sandy was honored as the Executive Director of the Year, 2012 by the Ohio Health Care Association.

In 2010, Sandy joined the development team for The Gables, bringing a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the physical, mental and emotional needs of seniors. As Executive Director at both The Gables and KentRidge, she has a deep-seated commitment to enhance the lives of their residents.

"I am honored to care and take part in the lives of the residents at The Gables of Hudson. Helping to meet their needs and create a plan of care that truly follows their goals on this path of their life is one of my main objectives. I am here to assist our residents age in place and stay in their home here at The Gables."


Amy Stalnaker grew up in Minnesota where her passion for nursing blossomed. She moved to Ohio 16 years ago where she met her husband and they are raising three beautiful children. Amy has 19 years of nursing experience with expertise in nursing homes, home care and hospice. Her experience and compassion allows her to provide the best care for our residents at The Gables.





Denise Czech-Dydo, Marketing Director

"I believe that everyone has choices in how to live their lives. My passion and goal is to assist the residents at The Gables to make the most of their golden years"


Denise Czech-Dydo brings a wealth of knowledge to her role of Director of Marketing, with more than 30 years of marketing experience in the senior health care field. Throughout her career, she has worked with families and seniors, overseeing Independent Retirement Communities as well as educating the community on Hospice care.

While marketing in the Senior Living environment is her first love, her second love is floral designing. Denise is a talented floral designer who recognizes how decoration can provide a pleasurable environment for all to enjoy their lifestyle at The Gables.

"I believe that each meal at The Gables is a social event, a form of entertainment for the residents. While I make each meal a well-balanced choice, I truly want the experience to be something that our residents anticipate with enthusiasm."


Chef John McAninch began his culinary cooking in 1993 at the renowned Nick Anthe's Restaurant in north Akron, working his way through the levels until assuming the dual roles of Chef and Kitchen Manager.

After attaining a degree in Culinary Arts in 1998 from the Pennsylvania Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, PA, Chef John then held a variety of positions at various restaurants to expand his level of experience and expertise, before returning to Nick Anthe's Restaurant to serve as Executive Chef.

In 2005, Chef John joined KentRidge at Golden Pond Assisted Living in Kent as Executive Chef. While there, he was honored as Best Chef, 2011 and 2012 in the Akron Beacon Journal's "Beacon's Best" contest and was also a finalist for the Professional Achievement Award, Dietary Director of the Year, 2011 and 2012, given by the Ohio Health Care Association. In 2013, Chef John became the Executive Chef at The Gables in Hudson. He brings to his role a commitment to providing residents with a delicious and nutritious cuisine that also addresses their specific dietary needs.

"Our residents are at the time of their lives that they no longer have the responsibility of raising children, nor are they bound by career obligations. Therefore, now is the time to cultivate hobbies, interests, and social pursuits-some old, some new. I feel that it is my duty to assist the residents to thrive in this new potential 'prime of life'."


Over the last decade, Katie has devoted her career life to innovative, fun, and meaningful programming for seniors.  Upon graduating from Ashland University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, she has worked in populations ranging from skilled nursing facilities to a hospital and adult day center. Not only is she a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, she is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner which has enabled her to interact most soundly with her residents. Being a Certified Herbalist and Reiki practitioner, Katie likes to enlighten others to alternative therapies for their well-being. In her home life, Katie practices what she preaches as wellness, recreation, and leisure are valued among her family and their busy social schedules.

"My philosophy is simply treating residents the way I would want to be treated. Whether it is answering a question about their bill or speaking with their families, it is always a matter of respect. I also believe in serving the residents in a way that anyone would feel confident for their family member to live at The Gables."


Denise Lemmon began her career in the senior living industry in 1988 as a receptionist at an area nursing home. That position provided Denise with a unique perspective on the residents and the overall needs of an aging population, while giving her the enjoyment of talking with them about their lives.

Over time, Denise assumed more operational responsibilities, specifically in the areas of accounting and bookkeeping. This experience has created a perfect path for her to move first into the position of Business Director at KentRidge at Golden Pond Assisted Living in Kent in 2012, and now in the same role at The Gables of Hudson.





Jim Sharlow, Maintenance Director

"I have always preferred problem solving, repair work and hands-on labor to pushing a pencil behind a desk. So it is no surprise that I view talking with the seniors at The Gables as a learning experience. Listening to their stories and socializing with them is better than any history class I ever sat through."


Jim Sharlow is a long-time student of the specialty and skilled type professions. He studied Industrial Arts at Kent State University and Electrical Engineering Technology at Stark State College before assuming his first position as a maintenance supervisor in 2001.

Since 2003, Jim has been responsible for the maintenance in several area long-term care facilities. In 2005, he joined the staff at KentRidge at Golden Pond Assisted Living in Kent during the early stages of the construction of the building. In his role as Maintenance Director at The Gables of Hudson, Jim oversees all the maintenance needs to ensure the residents' safety and well-being.

"Housekeeping services at The Gables go beyond the expected cleaning of the facility, residences, and common areas. We provide an environment where attention to detail matters and take pride in our ability to ensure the highest standards are met on a daily basis. My goal is to personally ensure every resident, guest, and staff member enjoys the quality 'white glove' surroundings I feel is deserving of The Gables name."


After 18 years as the manager of environmental services in the automotive industry, Derek made a change and joined the John Carrol University as a manager of the housekeeping staff for the past 5 years working for GCA. When he joined The Gables in September 2014 he was able to embrace the true meaning of teamwork necessary to truly focus on those that matter most, the residents. He has truly embraced the philosophy of care, trust, and respect The Gables is known for and strives to uphold those standards providing an environment reminiscent of home for our residents.

"I have always loved helping other people. At The gables, I get to do this everyday. I enjoy getting to know the residents like they are my own family and being part of their ability to stay strong, maintain mobility, and stay at home. My goal is to provide the highest standards of therapy interventions to allow every resident to enjoy the highest quality of life possible."


Karen Chaney has been in the healthcare field for the last 13 years. She was inspired by the many family members she has who also chose the healthcare field as their career. She began as an STNA in a skilled nursing facility. She loved watching the residents get stronger and go home and she loved being a part of this process. This led her to go back to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant. Since then she has worked in skilled nursing facilities as a treating therapist and in management as well as in home healthcare.

"Today's house call physician is a specialist in geriatric medicine, disease and medication management, health and wellness promotion, and care transitions. More than just a technician proficient in these endeavors, a house call physician is a compassionate and accessible partner with the patient, the family, and the facility, whose goal is to guide each individual senior through today's complicated healthcare environment to achieve the best care possible."


Dr. Steven Robertson serves as Medical Director for the Gables of Hudson. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, he completed his Internal Medicine Training at Indiana University, and is on the active medical staff of the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals of Cleveland Health Systems.

Dr. Robertson is a personable and caring physician, experienced in house call medicine, hospital care, and coordination of care transitions. Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care, he serves as the Medical Director for Western Reserve Senior Care: a unique group of clinicians dedicated to bringing house call medicine back to area seniors.





In addition to the team members above, we are supported by a staff of fully trained and capable personnel, who share our philosophy and support our mission to make The Gables of Hudson Ohio's premier assisted living facility.

From our nurses and healthcare aides to our dietary, maintenance and housekeeping staff, The Gables ensures that all those who provide a level of care and services to our residents are proficient and skilled as well as patient and caring.
